Contest results revisited

It could be a contest operator’s worst nightmare – inconsistencies in voting that leave the final poll results in doubt. Perhaps the only thing that could possibly be worse is to discover the discrepant results after the winner was announced.

That’s exactly what occurred with the adult category of Info Northeast’s Waters of Northeast Michigan amateur photography contest.

By all appearances, the spoiled results would have made no difference in the poll’s outcome. The wide spread between votes that the contest’s top contenders garnered appears to be too great.

But we cannot state that claim with unwavering certainty. So, in the interest of fairness, Info Northeast will award prizes – a $15 gift card to G’s Pizza – to all entrants who received more than one vote.

We apologize for this unfortunate error, realize it reflects poorly on us and wish to assure readers and contest entrants that this incident will not reoccur.
