Shopping Central In East Tawas
Walking down Newman Street in East Tawas during the summer is reminiscent of your first trip to that little beach town. That little hole in the wall that your dad once took you to when you were a child. But, judging by a few tourists’ reactions last year, it’s not anything like reminiscing. It’s the discovery of a whole new playground, easily traversed and open to fervent exploration.
Weathered yet colorful buildings line the sides of the street and brand new sidewalks and flowered planters offer a very serene stroll down one of Northeast Michigan’s most picturesque byways.
As the business hub of the town, it offers 37 establishments complete with everything a tourist or local resident may need. From small unique boutiques to home-made chocolate treats, this is the little street that could.
Therefore, it is the center of all shopping expeditions when in town. Given its location and close proximity to the Harbor, East Tawas Campground, the main drag - US-23 and the idyllic outlay, it is the quintessential small town business district.
