Gateway Park

Located at the Tawas River mouth, Gateway Park was built in 1982 in order to preserve the river mouth property for recreational use.

The name Gateway was chosen because the site was the first major regional exposure to the Lake Huron Coastal system.

The concrete sculptures that adorn the playground were constructed by Gordon Clute - a late local artist who left his statues to the city.

It’s a popular fishing spot outfitted with a picnic area and grill facilities. The park has an all around relaxing feel while providing expansive views of the lake.
